Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor to return in new 10-part riding adventure taking the long way home

AppleTV+ have confirmed that Charley Boorman and Ewan McGregor will return to our TV screens once again in a new 10-part adventure series, riding through Scandinavia, plus eastern and central Europe in a 10,000-mile loop between the pair’s UK homes.

“On a rather tricky, sandy bit of ‘Long Way Up,’ Charley and I started to daydream about another trip to keep our minds off the scary road at hand!” McGregor said. “This is that trip. Rusty old bikes and 10,000 miles… [and] a big loop from my house in Scotland to Charley’s house in England. Long way home… magic.”

Riding a refurbished old Moto Guzzi and BMW, the pair will travel from Ewan’s home in Scotland to Charley’s in England. Rather than take the direct route though, they will cross the North Sea and ride up through Scandinavia, to the Artic Circle.

Then it’s down to the Baltics and through continental Europe, before heading back over the English Channel two months later. It’s a ride that will take them through more than 15 countries, exploring some of the best roads on the continent along the way.

“It has been such a pleasure to get back on the road on motorcycles with my best friend Ewan,” Boorman added. “We’ve talked about doing this trip on old bikes since the last one. Traveling around Scandinavia and Europe has been a blast on our beautiful bikes.”

Ewan and Charley have starred in three previous riding adventures, starting with the immensely popular Long Way Round in 2004, riding a pair of BMW R1150GS Adventures. In 2007 came the Long Way Down, before the Long Way Up in 2020 – using electric Harley-Davidson LiveWires. All three previous series are available to stream on AppleTV+ now.

This new series will be executive produced by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman, as well as David Alexanian and Russ Malkin, who will also be directing. For more, go to tv.apple.com now.
