Stuart Prestidge 1974-2023

MCN is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Staff Writer Stuart Prestidge, who tragically died earlier this month, aged 49, following a battle with mental health.

Stuart joined the MCN team in September 2022, having trained as a journalist in 1997 and previously spent more than two decades covering stories for local newspapers across England, Scotland, and even Texas in the USA. Titles included, The Silsbee Bee, The Shetland Times and the Banbury Guardian.

More recently, with MCN, Stuart reported on important new motorcycles as well as interviewing company CEOs, and unearthing some wonderful human interest tales.

He wasn’t afraid to hold local authorities to account and championed many motorcycling charity articles. Stuart always had a notepad full of leads whenever called upon and will be sorely missed.

Stuart’s first introduction to bikes came alongside his Grandad, who took him along to speedway meetings at the Coventry Bees, spending countless hours watching greats including Ole Olsen and Tommy Knudsen.

He gained his road licence more than 20 years ago, passing his test in Texas and purchasing a Suzuki LS 650 cruiser. From there Stuart went on to own an eclectic mix of two-wheelers, including the iconic Suzuki GSX-R1000 K5, a Yamaha FZR400, Honda VFR800 and a KTM RC390. Most recently, he could be seen riding his trusty Honda CBR650F, which he used to travel up and down the country in any weather.

The thoughts of Bauer Media’s motorcycling division are with Stuart’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. A GoFundMe page has been created by Stuart’s family, to help give him the send-off he deserves.
