Thousands of enthusiastic bikers from across the UK have flocked to Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC) for the start of Motorcycle Live 2023.

The annual event showcasing all things two-wheeled began on Saturday, November 18, and will continue to run until Sunday, November 26 – hosting a number of attractions including test rides, live shows, and the opportunity to get up close and personal with the hottest 2024 machinery.

“We’ve sold more tickets in advance; we’ve sold more space, we’ve got more manufacturers,” Managing Director of Motorcycle Live, Finlay McAllan said. “There’s a lot of new products to be looked at, sat on, and ridden.”

Kicking off just six days after the end of this year’s busy Eicma trade show in Milan, the event also provides the first UK opportunity to see a large number of new models revealed during and in the build-up to the Italian event.

This coming Saturday will also see a roster of racing world champions including Danny Kent, Dougie Lampkin, James Toseland, and more congregating for FIM Champion’s Day too.

“We all come every year,” 59-year-old Ducati 916 rider Mark Deathridge told MCN. “We’ve really enjoyed it and it’s a good get together. You have a good chinwag.”

This was added to by his good friend, Hugh Dalziel who said: “I’d definitely recommend this show again now. It’s definitely picked up and there’s a really nice atmosphere.”

Sunday, November 19 also played host to BSB Day, which has run at the show since 2018 and gives fans the chance to meet a wide range of British Superbike racing stars. This year’s attendees included 2023 champion Tommy Bridewell, as well as front runners Jason O’Halloran and Glenn Irwin.

Also on display was MCN’s Dream Garage exhibit, showcasing 12 of the most desirable money-no-object motorcycles in the world. One of the early highlights was the supercharged 400bhp Thornton Hundred SC RR, which has been drawing in hundreds of riders on a daily basis.

Visitor Terry Springall from Southend said: “I come every year. I only started riding eight years ago, but it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.

“It’s just a social thing really. Me and my mates stay in the Premier Inn and come for the weekend and drool over the machinery really! I might pick something up on the trade stalls.”
