Post-war Harley-Davidson WLC to be auctioned for charity

A 1949 Harley-Davidson WLC will go under the hammer with no reserve at the Silverstone Auctions Shuttleworth Sale on 30 July to raise much needed money for a cancer charity.

The 750cc air-cooled, side-valve, flat head twin was developed prior to WWII and used extensively across Europe as a military vehicle. Following the war Harley-Davidson continued to manufacture civilian examples.

The bike has been put up for auction by Look Good Feel Better, who work with people processing a cancer diagnosis and how to manage the physical and emotional side of treatment.

It was donated to them by beauty firm Kiehl’s, who used to display the bike in their London Regent Street store and will be auctioned with no reserve.

The full 100% hammer price will be donated to the charity with any amount making a real difference, as just £500 can sponsor a workshop and support for 10 people experiencing the disease.

Almost 170 other bikes are also up for grabs including a slew of small capacity Italian racing bikes such as a 1953 MV Agusta 125 Monoalbero with a guide price of between £25,000 – £30k and a 1968 Beta Camoscio 48 Sport, offered with no reserve.
