InspireRide Bomber Command Centre ride-in returns for 2024

The popular InSpireRide event to Lincoln’s International Bomber Command Centre (IBCC) takes place once again in May 2024, honouring 80 years since the ‘Great Escape.’

The mass ride will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024 paying tribute to the 76 allied airmen who escaped Stalag Luft III prisoner of war camp on the night of March 24, 1944.

The event will also raise money for the IBCC, supporting their efforts in education and remembering all those, from 62 countries, involved with Bomber Command during WW2.

To do this, the IBCC has worked with veterans, recording their stories as well as preserving their documents and photos from the time.

The InSpireRide will feature food and drink for riders, music, displays, and flypasts from military aircraft. Mass rides into the centre will come from the north and south, with more details to be announced soon.

To help the centre, the team asks for a £10 contribution from visitors. 75 bikes can also take part in the VIP scheme (£50 solo, £60 for rider and pillion), which gives Priority Access to the Chadwick Centre Exhibition (normally £10.50), a professional photo of your bike in front of the spire at the venue, and more.

All but three of the 76 ‘Great Escape’ servicemen were recaptured, with 50 subsequently executed. 28 of them were members of Bomber Command and are now remembered in memorials at the IBCC.
