Ready to run up that hill: Classic climb is all in a good cause

Owners of pre-war bikes and cars are making final preparations for a hillclimb organised by Louth Rotary club in Lincolnshire. Debuting in 2022, the Lincolnshire Wolds Vintage Hill Climb will again take place in Scamblesby, just a few minutes from Cadwell Park.

“People loved our first Vintage Hill Climb and there’s nothing else quite like it in Lincolnshire,” Louth Rotary’s Alan Curtis said. “So many people asked us if we’d do it again.

“It raised over £5000 for our good causes and we hope that drivers, riders, and spectators will come along once again and support us. All profits from this event will go towards helping people in genuine need, both locally and abroad.”

With the event taking place on Sunday, September 3, more than 50 two- and four-wheelers are already signed up for three runs up and down the track. This will take place along Rowgate Road in the village, with a static classic car display, food, drink and live entertainment.

The oldest bike to take part in 2022 was a 1925 Triumph Model P, with the oldest machine currently booked on for this year set to be 111 years old when it pulls away.

MCN attended last year and spoke to Christine Blood and her partner Michael Schofield, from Lancashire, who owned the Model P. She said: “It’s been relaxed… And it’s nice to see the younger generation interested, too.”
