Desert raider off to Germany: Competition winner bags Ténéré racer

MotoGP’s official charity partner, Two Wheels for Life have announced the winner of a competition to bag the official rally-spec Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid that competed in the ’22 Africa Eco Race.

The factory-finished motorcycle was won by German rider Dirk Streb, who scooped the bike alongside a fully paid trip to ride with Yamaha’s official rally racers.

“I can’t believe I’m the lucky winner amongst so many entrants,” Streb said. “I’ve had three years of enduro experience, and 35 riding motorcycles. Even though I’m still in the early stages of enduro riding, I’m really looking forward to learning from these incredible riders. It’ll be an unforgettable experience.”

The UK-based charity raised €29,004 (£24,984) with the competition. These funds will be used to help replace a fleet of Yamaha AG200 motorcycles in The Gambia, where they are used by health workers to reach some of the remotest regions of Africa.

The charity has now also announced the opportunity to bid on a unique MotoGP experience at a 2023 European round of your choice.

The winner and a friend will get exclusive paddock access, including grid access for every race, post qualifying press conference access, a pitlane walk, safety car lap experience and even access to the MotoGP podium ceremony.

You’ll also get return flights up to the value of £500, plus three nights of accommodation. Just head to the Charity Stars website to bid. The competition winner will be drawn on January 25, 2023.

Win this rally-spec Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid

This official ‘rally spec’ version of Yamaha’s Ténéré 700 World Raid, which has been built to race in the 2022 Africa Eco Race in October, is being offered as the star prize in a charity raffle for Riders for Health.

And not only will the winner take the full-factory racer, they’ll also get a day’s riding with star Yamaha riders Pol Tarrés or Alessandro Botturi.

The prize is being offered by British-based charity Two Wheels for Life who’ve joined forces with Yamaha Motor Europe.

It is hoped they can raise over €100,000 to help replace a fleet of life-saving Yamaha AG100 motorcycles for The Gambia.

The project also aims to raise money for and increase awareness of the work carried out by Riders for Health, supplying, managing and maintaining motorcycles for health-focused operations in Africa.  

The draw was launched at the Adventure Bike Rider Festival and continues online until November 27. Entrants also get the opportunity to win one of four one-day Yamaha Adventure Riding Experience days with Botturi or Tarrés.
