Beefy power hike from new S&S big-bore kit for Harley-Davidsons

American performance firm S&S have released their biggest-ever Harley-Davidson big-bore kits which aim to turn an 1868cc, 93bhp cruiser into a monstrous 2163cc, 135.5bhp bruiser. “This one is huge, like literally huge,” said S&S Vice-President of Marketing, David Zemla.

“The S&S R&D team has been working on this project for the better part of 18 months and has done an intensive level of durability testing to develop the perfect combination of materials and piston shape.”

Meanwhile, an additional 132ci version is designed for the larger 114ci standard variant and, with the same 109.7mm bore (up from 102mm) but 114.3mm stroke results in a capacity of 2163cc – up from 1868cc.

S&S also claim that, with an exhaust and other minor mods, the bigger kit results in a 40+bhp power boost to 135.51bhp at 5600rpm (from 93bhp @ 5250rpm) and a peak torque figure of 145.8lb.ft from 116.5.

Both kits are available in either all black or with machined fins, all cost $1499.95 (£1245.89), run a compression of 11:1 so can use standard fuel, require no further modifications, and can be fitted with the engine in situ. For more information and to order go to the S&S website.
