No time to buy: James Bond Scrambler 1200 XE goes for £138,600 in charity sale

A Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE ridden in the latest James Bond epic No Time To Die has sold for £138,600 at a charity auction.

The twin-cylinder retro was expected to fetch between £20,000-£30,000 and was first ridden by assassin Primo (actor Dali Benssalah) and then Bond (Daniel Craig) in the Italian medieval city of Matera, performing an epic wall jump in the opening sequence.

All proceeds of the sale have been given to Severn Hospice, who provide care across Shropshire and North Powys for those living with incurable illnesses.

The bike was specially modified in consultation with stunt co-ordinator Lee Morrison and the wall jump stunt was performed by British former four-times enduro world champion, Paul Edmondson.

The special Scrambler was joined by a selection of other amazing Bond memorabilia in a special two-part Christie’s auction celebrating 60 years of the brand. All proceeds of the events went to charitable causes and a total of £6,103,500 was raised from the first leg of the auction alone.

The biggest ticket was an Aston Martin DB5 replica that also appeared in No Time To Die and went for a mammoth £2,922,000.

Licensed to thrill… Scrambler 1200 from No Time to Die up for auction

A Triumph Scrambler 1200 from the latest James Bond flick No Time To Die is to star in a special 007 vehicle display at Silverstone this weekend before being auctioned off for charity next month. 

The bike, which was first ridden by film baddie ‘Primo’ before being commandeered by 007 for an epic wall jump in the opening sequence, joins seven other Bond vehicles from the film in a two-part event to celebrate 60 years of the secret agent on the silver screen. 

The first is a special preview display at this bank holiday weekend’s Silverstone Classic historic motorsport event from August 26-28. 

While the second is a special live auction in partnership with Bond filmmakers EON Productions to be held on September 28 when all eight vehicles, along with other Bond items, will be sold in aid of charity. 

The bike is the actual Scrambler 1200 XE provided in partnership with Triumph and ridden first by assassin Primo (actor Dali Benssalah) and then Bond (Daniel Craig) in the Italian medieval city of Matera.

Despite the bike’s impeccable pedigree, however, its sale price is likely to be dwarfed by one of the other star lots – an Aston Martin DB5 stunt car.  

Standard DB5s are already among the most valuable of classic cars, with this special replica, one of eight built for the film by Aston Martin and the only 007 DB5 stunt car ever released for public sale, expected to go for £1.5-£2million. The Triumph, meanwhile, is expected to fetch between £20,000 and £30,000.
