Motorbikes will take centre stage at Motofest Coventry this weekend (Saturday and Sunday, June 2-3) in a line-up celebrating the city’s motorsport heritage.

Beginning with a ride-out from Coombe Abbey Hotel at 9am on Saturday (no need to register, meet at 8am), riders will take in 13 miles of Warwickshire countryside before completing a lap of the Toyo Tires sprint circuit and parking up in the Power Maxed Motofest Coventry bike village.

There’ll be plenty on show to keep bike fans interested across the weekend too, including the Bennetts Suzuki GSX-R1000, ridden in 2016’s British Superbike Championship by Tommy Bridewell, making an appearance on Sunday on the circuit.

The superbike will sport the special commemorative Barry Sheene livery worn for the BSB round at Brands Hatch in 2016 to mark the 40th anniversary of the motorcycling legend’s first 500cc world title.

It will be joined at the event on Sunday as a display bike by the Telefonica MoviStar Suzuki RGV500 that Kenny Roberts Jr. used in 2000 to win the 500cc World Championship, and Kevin Schwantz’s 1993 Moto GP Championship winning RGV500, clad in the Lucky Strike livery that it ran during its victorious championship year.

This year will also see a dedicated bike village with the ‘Get On’ ride-and-try experience, wall of death, DynABike and displays from classic bike clubs, a street food village and of course the regular food and drink retailers.

Darren Langeveld, Power Maxed Coventry Motofest race director, said: “The motorbike section of the festival gets bigger and better every year and it’s fantastic that this year the bikers will officially start the festival weekend with the ride-out.

“It’s set to be another thrilling year for our two-wheel fans and we look forward to seeing all the bikes out on the Toyo Tires circuit and on display this year.”
