Video: Undercover police officers intercept mopeds in Manchester

A video has emerged showing the moment two undercover police officers on enduro bikes stopped two mopeds in Manchester.

Dressed in plain clothes, dashcam footage shows the officers swerve in front of two scooters in Moston last month.

One of the suspects immediately runs off as the two on the other scooter are restrained by the officers. It is at that moment, a marked police bike rides in.

Twitter reacts to undercover police job

The news caused a flurry of social media comments with one Twitter user saying: “Nice to see we’ve still got some good coppers in Britain.”

“More tough measures by the police please, it’s the only way and well over due with dealing with these thugs. @metpoliceuk get out of offices and let’s have policing on the streets protecting the public…,” wrote another.

Bikers join forces to fight thieves

Earlier this year we reported that a new London-based group was set up by members of the public with the aim of reducing the number of bikes stolen and recovering a greater proportion of those that are taken.

The group call themselves BikerBiker and operate on Facebook, having claimed to have returned many stolen bikes back to their owners.
