April’s fools

1 of 5

Sunday saw the traditional display of April Fool’s jokes designed to catch out the unwary. But did you spot them all? Just in case you missed any of them, or still believe they are true, here are some of MCN’s picks of the pranks…

Rossi’s YZR-M1 for sale

This familiar bike popped up as MCN Bike of the Day on April 1 alongside a tempting price tag. Sadly, it wasn’t true, as the description might have hinted at. There again, a YZR-M1 with  daylight-only MOT, now that would be worth riding…

YZF-R3 Bunny Edition

Yamaha Europe chose April Fool’s to release a shocking pink ‘Bunny Edition’ YZF-R3 – complete with bunny logo and pink wheels.

BMW onboard 3-D Printer

BMW UK came up with a clever way of helping out stuck adventurers out of a tight spot. This onboard 3-D printer could, they claimed, help 3-D print a part should you snap a gearlever in the deepest jungle of Brazil!

A great escape!

Triumph’s rather tempting tweet on April 1 claimed that the firm had included a ‘Great Escape’ section at their new Adventure Experience in Wales. Yep, you could replicate Steve McQueen’s legendary leap on a Tiger 800 into a soft-ball filled pit. April Fool’s aside, this is actually a brilliant idea!

Kawasaki’s supercharged jet ski road bike!

Now this actually got our pulses racing, a Kawasaki H2 jet ski! Kawasaki’s fantastically named H2O (get it?) claimed to have combined their supercharged H2 motorcycle with a jet ski to create a 310bhp monster that even converted back to a road bike at the touch of a button. Where do we sign up?

Lego helmet

Sportsbikeshop announced on April 1 that it was selling a new HJC ‘Lego Head Helmet’ that allowed riders to customise their lid and even have different hair and faces. To be fair, MCN recons this idea might even catch on. We like it!
