DTV Shredder to go on sale in the US

The DTV Shredder, you know, that half tank, half skateboard, half motocross bike thing, has finally received approval in the United States, which means it will be available to purchase across the pond from October.

The Shredder has been available in several parts of the world, including the UK, for several years now, and if you want to get your hands on one over here prices start at £4165. That would give the Shredder a price of $5567 in the US at current rates.

The, err, tank board, is powered by a 196cc single cylinder four-stroke that sends 14bhp to the two tank treads. The rider operates the bonkers looking machine via a thumb throttle while standing on it like a skateboard. The Shredder is good for a top speed of 25mph, which sounds absolutely terrifying, and is capable of 15º of lean each way, which s how you get it to go round corners. There are also two Continuously Variable Transmissions (CVT) which control the speeds of each individual tread to aid with cornering.

The Shredder weighs 144kg, which isn’t exactly light for a skateboard-type thing. I’m not sure why you’d choose to buy a it over something more conventional, such as an enduro bike or off-road buggy, but the choice is there if those two are a bit too common for you.
