Elspeth Beard Lone Rider book launch at Vines of Guildford

BMW dealer Vines of Guildford will be hosting the book launch for Lone Rider, the book written by the first British woman to ride around the world, Elspeth Beard.

In 1982 Elspeth, aged just 23, set off to ride around the globe on her BMW R60/6. A trip that would cover 35,000 miles in two years. She shipped her BMW across the pond to New York and set off on her adventure, first heading north to Canada before turning south in to Mexico and eventually to Los Angeles.

TOP STORIES

Over the two years she was knocked unconscious in Australia, broke down in the middle of the desert and had her bike catch fire. All this is recounted in Elspeth’s new book Lone Rider: The First British Woman to Motorcycle Around the World, which Elspeth was inspired to write after a Hollywood agent contacted her to buy the rights to her amazing story.

The event, which takes place at 6:45pm on Thursday July 20, will include refreshments, followed by an account of Elspeth’s story with a question and answer session lead by founder/curator of the Adventure Travel Film Festival; Lois Pryce.

Tickets for the book launch cost £5, with all ticket sales benefitting Dreamflight and Motorcycle Outreach charities. To secure your pace at the event call Louisa Watson on 01483 207000 or email louisa.watson@vinesgroup.net.

The book is available to order on Amazon now.
