MCN BSB REPORTER

If you love bike racing and want to write for a massive brand – this could be the job for you!!
The British Superbike championship is the biggest domestic Superbike championship in the world. It’s packed full of factory supported teams and world class riders and plays a huge part in MCN’s extensive sport coverage.
You will get to live the BSB dream, ask Shane Byrne or Leon Haslam difficult questions while getting under the skin of the paddock to deliver the best stories.
MCN is the world’s biggest motorcycling publication and has massive following on its website and through Social Media.
We need someone who knows motorcycle sport inside, who can dig deep, get new and interesting angles and turn around great stories fast. An understanding of social media and writing for the web is also vital.
The successful applicant will also be required to play an integral part in the day to day running of our ever expanding website motorcyclenews.com.
Preferred candidates will have a proven track record as a journalist working for a national publication or within the paddock.

MCN – Online Editor

The world’s biggest motorcycling publishing brand is looking for an Online Editor to run its fast-growing motorcyclenews.com website and hugely popular social media channels.

Key tasks include:
-Running the website day-to-day with watertight planning
-Generating brilliant, must-click content
-Engage MCN’s significant social media audience in creative and compelling ways to drive website traffic and return visits
-Overseeing the editorial team’s web content plan and supporting them to create must-click content on a daily basis in a variety of formats (eg words, pics, video)
-Have an understanding of how to drive traffic and engagement in mcn.com’s most commercial-critical areas of the site
-Ensure headlines and copy meet MCN’s quality and tone
-Manages the digital team and works closely with the editorial team.
-Uses SEO best practice and helps other content creators do the same
-Uses analytics to refine MCN’s offering and inspire new content ideas

This is a key role in MCN’s award-winning editorial team and a knowledge of what makes great websites will stand you in good stead.
A proven record of writing for a magazine or website will also help illustrate an ability to maintain top quality content on a site that sees up to 20 stories a day being uploaded.
An interest and understanding of motorcycles is important and while it is not necessary for you to hold a bike licence, you will need to demonstrate an understanding of the MCN audience.
You will also need to have commercial awareness to understand what drives motorcyclenews.com and be able to create and target content to fully exploit these opportunities.
