Are Popes electric? They are now!
It’s always handy to have God on your side – and BMW have made themselves closer to Holiness than most by loaning electric scooters to assist one of the Pope’s main 2016 projects.
The two BMW C-Evolution scooters are emblazoned with the logo for the Jubilee of Mercy, a year-long period for the remission of sins and universal pardon.
The scoots have been donated by BMW Italia to His Excellency Archbishop Rino Fisichella, President of the Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelisation. They’ve been used to ship guests, officials and pilgrims around the Vatican State.

Archbishop Fisichella said: “Our volunteers and, most of all, pilgrims with minor disabilities will find it easier, with the loan of an electric vehicle provided free of charge, to tackle the pilgrim’s journey at the Jubilee of Mercy.”
We hope the Pope’s delegates get on better than the last catholic we can recall taking charge of an electric vehicle…
