Triton seals classic glory

The 2016 Classic Bike of the Year competition drew to a close on Sunday at the Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle show with a stunning Triumph-engined Norton special, built by 55-year-old Doncaster joiner Glyn Goddard, taking the win along with a cash prize of £1000.

The Triton features a T160 Trident engine (but with T150 gearbox, barrels and clutch) slotted into a 1961 Norton Featherbed frame with a Ducati TT2 monoshock rear end, plus shortened and de-lugged Yamaha Diversion forks.

Glyn said: “I’m shocked I’ve won it. I’ve built plenty of bikes in the past but never won owt like this.”

The winner of the Classic Bike of the Year, sponsored by Bonhams and Godin Sporting Cars & Motorcycles Ltd, is decided by a public vote online and at the show.
