10 quick questions with Valentino Rossi

In 2013, MCN Sport grabbed five minutes with The Doctor and fire 10 quickfire questions at him. Here are his answers…

 

ou can travel in time. Where to?
“First of all I want to fight on a 500 for one season with Schwantz, Rainey, Gardner, Lawson and Doohan. Then I want to be 20 or 25 and living in the 1960s and ’70s. Life was a lot more easy and more fun compared to now. My father had a good group of friends, very similar to me and in fact now we go to dinner together, me with my friends and him with his. Hearing the stories it looks like it was really funny.”

Best advice you’ve ever followed?
“Try to think in an easier way to make things work, and not make them too complicated.”

Fancy dress party outfit?
“For sure Batman because it is black and yellow.”

Preferred supernatural power?
“I’d love to be able to fly.”

What do you most dislike about your appearance?
“I want to be more young like when I was 25 – less wrinkles.”

One album, one book, one movie?
“Music would have to be something like Bob Marley, maybe his greatest hits. A movie I have always been in love with is The Blues Brothers. For a book, I only read one or two each year. I need six or seven months to read a book so I am slow but constant. I read one great book about Muhammad Ali but I can’t even remember the title.”

What the hell do people buy you for Christmas?
“Difficult, eh? My girlfriend always buys me very good gifts. For Christmas she gave me an old-style record player so I can play vinyl albums. And also I buy for Christmas a big console and a mixer so I am a young DJ. I know a lot of DJs like Carl Cox. He has a great passion for motorcycles, even a Ducati and a Honda in his kitchen.”

What scares you?
“Helicopters and planes. So not good for my career.”

Coolest car in the world?
“For sure Ferrari. I have a great passion for Porsche so the first car I buy when I had enough money was a Porsche. Ferrari is a bit more difficult to go around with.”

When are you happiest?
“When I stay with my friends and we make some casino in the night and make some party. And also on the track when I win races.”
