Gallery: £100 a month heroes tested

1 of 14

It’s December, which means, despite a couple of mild days, the riding season is firmly behind us for the next few months.

But at this time of year certain bikes that would otherwise get overlooked stand out as capable, good value buys, and all three bikes you see in this gallery can be yours for less than £100 a month on PCP.

TOP STORIES

Suzuki’s SV650 has been around since 1999 – save for a mid-life crisis in 2009 when it was replaced by the Gladius – and has always appealed to new riders and those looking for performance on a budget. The latest incarnation is no different, offering light, nimble handling with a punchy engine that won’t intimidate new riders.

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is more versatile than the SV, thanks to a more upright riding position, bigger tank and screen. The parallel-twin engined Versys will happily tear along your favourite twisty roads, though. It’s certainly not a one trick pony.

Honda’s NC750X is the slight oddball of the bunch. The fuel tank has been replaced by a storage compartment – which just about fits a full face helmet – and the engine only revs to 6500rpm. It’s the two-wheeled equivalent of a diesel car and results in 76mpg during motorway riding.
