Gallery: Cadwell Park International Classic

“It’s like Goodwood for true classic race fans,” says excited spectator Mark Wharburton as Giacomo Agostini, Phil Read and Derek Chatterton scream past the canteen and drop into Hall Bends.

“The parades start out as processions but they all end up racing like it’s 1968 again!”

In just its second year, the Cadwell International Classic already attracts a star-studded cast and is the only meeting on the calendar that brings together all the top international classic race series.

The weekend’s event saw racing from the five major championships as well as a parade especially for Giacomo Agostini and his former rivals. Beyond the machinery and high quality racing, the popularity of the Cadwell Classic is due to the Lincolnshire circuit itself.

“It’s steeped in racing history,” says racing organiser Pete Boast. “And because it’s a natural amphitheatre, the unique atmosphere the racing generates is held in. Everyone who races, or raced, here falls in love with the place and loves coming back.”
