A new scholarship programme to promote the careers of aspiring motorcycle journalists has been launched by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), Motor Cycle News, and The Daily Telegraph.

The Kevin Ash Memorial Scholarship is being created in recognition and remembrance of the widely respected and prolific motorcycle journalist Kevin Ash, and will be open to students applying to join the Automotive Journalism MA course at Coventry University starting in the next academic year.

The winner of the scholarship will receive a bursary of £1500 and have access to work experience opportunities at both Bauer Media’s motorcycling titles and the Telegraph.

“Kevin Ash was a highly-respected journalist and the Kevin Ash Memorial Scholarship is a wonderful tribute that will ensure the professionalism that Kevin bought to motorcycle journalism is developed to the benefit of the wider motorcycle community,” said Steve Kenward, CEO of the Motorcycle Industry Association.

To launch the scholarship, an introductory seminar open to anybody interested in focusing on motorcycle journalism will take place on August  29 at Coventry University.
