Ago, Dunlop and McGuinness set for Mallory Bike Bonanza

1 of 1

Fifteen time world champion and ten time TT winner Giacomo Agostini will headline this weekend’s Mallory Bike Bonanza, as a full weekend of activities descend upon the Leicestershire track, with the Italian joined by a host of modern stars and classic machinery as well as entertainment for the whole family.

Joining Agostini on his MV Agusta as he recreates his famous Mallory Park Race of the Year fights will be local hero John Cooper. Between 1965 and 1971 the duo dominated the race, one of the biggest non-championship races of the year, with the Derby man taking five victories to Ago’s two.

They’ll also be joined by a whole host of modern stars of the sport as they parade on ultra-special machinery. Michael Dunlop will ride his father’s rotary Norton, while BSB race winner Ryuichi Kiyonari will be on a Kenny Roberts Yamaha 500GP machine and National Superstock 1000 racer Lee Jackson will take to the track on Valentino Rossi’s Ducati MotoGP Desmosedici.

They’re just some of the stars in attendance, though, and John McGuinness, Phil Read, Paul Smart, Steve Parrish, Ron Chandler, Colin Seeley, Rex Butcher, Alex George, Tony Rutter, Trevor Nation, and Sammy Miller will all be there to entertain.

Local bands, an autojumble, bar facilities at the RAF Reserves entertainment marquee, and race demonstrations and vintage machinery are among only some of the other activities planned for the weekend.
