September MADness

If your September evenings are looking a little devoid of humour, you need to head to a theatre in Maidstone, Southend, Newark or Scunthorpe to be entertained by persistent prankster and GP aficionado, Steve Parrish, on his MAD tour.

If your September is already maxed out, then the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull has announced that the tour will roll into the museum on 31 October.

Parrish raced at the highest level of motorcycle racing, becoming British Champion in 1976 and 5th in the 1977 500cc World Championship, as team mate to that year’s champion, Barry Sheene.

He then dabbled with sports car racing before moving to truck racing, where he won 5 European Truck Racing titles for Mercedes-Benz.

More recently he has been the lead commentator for the BBC’s MotoGP coverage, and has continued the association as a BT Sport presenter and contributor.

Having led his life at full-throttle, his tales of scrapes, near misses and funnies – including riding Barry Sheene’s bike to qualifying for the world champion, being locked up in a Macau jail for blowing up a brothel, and jumping hire cars from second-floor car parks in Daytona onto the beach – all conspire to make for a very entertaining evening with ‘Stavros’.

Joining Steve on stage, and leading the proceedings, will be Steve’s daughter Frankie, who has endured a lifetime of her father’s antics and the embarrassment they entail. Head to www.madtour.co.uk for more details.
