Triumph Announces 'Young Guns' Finalists

The three finalists in Triumph’s Young Guns initiative are Adam Robinson (17), Lee Jackson (16) and Chrissy Rouse (16).

They were the three riders to most impress judges – including Frankie Chili and MCN editor Marc Potter – during a season spent being coached and assessed on their riding skills, fitness, attitude and ability to use a variety of media to further their racing careers. They’ll go head to head at Thruxton during the final NG Road Racing event on 15 October, for the chance to bag a factory-supported 675 in next year’s Triumph Triple Challenge.

The overall winner of Triumph Young Guns 2011 will be chosen based on their conduct over the year and their performance at Thruxton.

Guy Masters, general manager, Triumph UK, said: “We were absolutely delighted by the number and quality of entries we had to our first Young Guns initiative. The judging day at Silverstone included representatives from MSVR, Triumph, MCN and Triumph Triple Challenge and it took us several hours to review how all of the Young Guns had performed over the year. Selecting the three finalists was not an easy task!

“The judging panel was impressed by the passion and professionalism the ten riders have shown and found it very difficult to choose the final three. We now look forward to Brands Hatch in a couple of weeks to watch how the finalists perform under the pressure of a race weekend.”

Tony Scott, Triumph Triple Challenge championship co-ordinator and Young Guns judge said: “This initiative has received a great response from the motorcycle racing community and the calibre of the applicants was outstanding. The judging panel faced an incredibly tough job to whittle the selected ten Triumph Young Guns down to the three finalists. All ten riders have thrown themselves into the scheme working very hard to improve their racing skills both on and off the track. During the last few months every rider has shown an improvement impressing all of the judges with their commitment and drive to succeed.”
