Video: Electric bike vs. petrol rivals – full race commentary

Electric superbike racer Chip Yates has released this video of his podium-placed race against a grid of petrol-fuelled bikes last weekend.

The Swigz.com Electric Racing team bike makes an estimated 194bhp and was competing against supersport twins, including RC8s and 1198s. In the 6-lap race, Yates not only finished 3rd overall but set the fastest lap time of the day at 1:39.

The footage comes from the Heavyweight Twins Superbike Expert class of the WERA Auto Club Speedway Race in California on 9 January 2011. Commentary by Chip Yates.
