1 of 1

It’s just over a week until the 11th Essex Air Ambulance motorcycle run on September 12 which is aiming to beat last year’s record-breaking 5000 riders taking part which raised £42,000.

All those pre-registered to take part in the event will be entered into a prize draw to win a BMW F650 GS, donated by Cannon-BMW.

Those who have pre-registered should tune into Heart 96.3/102.6 between 8-9am on Monday 13th September to hear a selection of sticker numbers.

The first caller with a matching number and who correctly answers our question live on air…wins!

Last year’s anniversary event smashed all previous records with in excess of 5,000 bikers making the 60 mile ride from Ford Dunton to Harwich, raising over £42,000 for the county’s life-saving helicopter.

The motorcycle run will begin at Ford Dunton Technical Centre near Basildon. Craig Jones, European stunt riding champion will perform before the start of the run and for the first time he will bring his skills academy to Dunton.

Riders will leave Ford Dunton Technical Centre from 11am and make their way to historic Harwich. Bikers will follow a route approved by Essex Police and will be marshalled down the A127 to the A130 and on to the A12. From the A12 bikers will be directed to Harwich on the A120.

A statement from Essex Air Ambulance said: “It’s hoped the helicopter will be based at the event giving people the unique opportunity to see the aircraft up close and meet the Crew.

If the helicopter is based at the event, there will be the opportunity to have your photograph taken with the helicopter and Crew for purchase on the day.

Other attractions include; motorcycle display stands from Essex Goldwings, Parkinson Motorcycles and T K Cope Motorcycles plus stands from the event sponsors; BikeTeam, Cannon-BMW, as well as craft and community stands, children’s activities, food and refreshments and much more for bikers and families alike.

New for this year on the Parkinson Motorcycles stand is a unique black and white Ferrari and a matching Ducati provided courtesy of Oakley Design of Harwich.

There will of course be live music and family entertainment on the Heart FM stage hosted by Breakfast presenter Martin Day.

The Harwich Green area will once again be closed to cars in order to allow for the presence of the bikes. Visitors are also encouraged to use the train service.”
