Report every road defect

Up ‘ere in the southern Shire of York, the roads are getting so bad that I’ve turned to reporting every ‘kin pothole, crack or fault in as many roads as I can.

T’other day my 17 year old Daughter (whom I introduced to bikes earlier this year) was travelling on a few of the roads. As a learner she was being careful – the roads were wet and it was slippy out there.

On one of the local residential roads, speed humps galore and bad surfaces caused by buses saw my daughter railroaded into the side of the curb. She was crying with fright when she called me!

She was trying to avoid the humps and hit the ruts which aimed her straight for the path! As she was going slow she was not hurt but this particular road on my bike is lethal.

Following the law – if my daughter had have had an accident caused by this road, it would have to be pre-reported for her to stand a better chance of a claim.

So now I report almost every road defect I come across, so as to help anyone in the event of a claim.
