Toseland is UK’s richest bike racer
Double World Superbike champion James Toseland is worth £10m according to the Sunday Times rich list, and was the only motorcyclist in the newspaper’s Top 100 UK Sports people rich list.
He was ranked the 16th richest UK sports person under 30 years old.
The 29-year-old is worth the same as premier league footballers Craig Bellamy, Dimitar Berbatov and Cesc Fabregas. Whoever they are.
Formula One World Champion Jenson Button, worth £43million, was ranked number one and Michael Owen was second.
Toseland’s wealth accelerated in 2004 when he first won the WSBK title, and again when he won in 2007.
The Sunday Times says, unsurprisingly, that the following two years in MotoGP earned him the most from sponsors.
