RoSPA RideSafe days in North Notts

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents are holding  ‘RideSafe’ motorcycling events at the new Idle Valley Rural Learning Centre just north of Retford from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm.

It is subsidised by Nottinghamshire County Council through the Notts Motorcycle Forum, and costs just £49 for a day’s training and riding.

Dates available 31st July 28th August 25th September 9th October All the instructors are fully qualified by RoSPA and hold a National Diploma in Advanced Motorcycle Instruction – which is the highest civilian qualification available.

There is a maximum of two riders to every Instructor, so the training is personal and intensive.

The event is a 2hr RoSPA RideSafe presentation/short film/open discussion on the 5 main causes of motorcycle accidents and how to avoid them, and an introduction to the Police Roadcraft safe riding system, followed by an assessed training ride covering around 130 miles.

The event is open to anyone who holds a full motorcycle license, irrespective of experience, on any type of suitable bike.

According to the latest statistics, although the accident rate has improved by 23% since 1998, motorcyclists are still 57 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured on the road (Dft’s Compendium of Motorcycling Statistics 2009).

Over 130 riders are killed or seriously injured every year in Notts. We would like to reduce this figure if possible.

Places are limited so riders need to book early if they would like a specific date.
