Every day, it seems that parking enforcement becomes more draconian and rules become more confusing.

Revenue hungry councils hike the charges and bring in new ones. Each trip out on the road becomes a lottery of disproportionately high fines.

Jeez, you’d get fined less for shoplifting or assualt these days! Westminster, whose parking revenue is some £80m pa, raised car parking fees by 25% in the last year or so.

Now they have introduced a fee to use the previously free motorcycle bays. OK, “only £1” now but you can bet that’s just the thin end of the wedge to ease acceptance.

They have increased parking fees by 10 times the rate of inflation since they piloted parking meters. You’d be paying 45p ph to park in central London if it had merely increasd with inflation.

When has anyone done more than grumble of forums? No, we just drop our kecks and bend over to be shafted because nobody will listen if we object. Not true!

No To Bike Parking Tax protesters are making their presence felt and are becoming a thorn in the side of WCC and TFL that cannot be ignored.

You might not be a London biker and you might not support this particular battle but we should unite to make a stand and say “Enough is enough!”. With a united voice, we could take even bigger victories and stop the rot.
