Born to be Wild: Celebrity Motorcycles at the Ronald Reagan Library

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in California is hosting an exhibition of celebrity and vintage motorcycles.

The ‘Born to be Wild’ exhibition is running from 9 July through to November, and hosts a range of motorcycles from classic films, celebrity owners, as well as a selection of vintage motorcycles dating from 1899.

There are motorcycles belonging to Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Steve McQueen, while the exhibition also boasts the Harley-Davidson from ‘Terminator’, the Batgirl and Robin motorcycles ridden by Alicia Silverstone and Chris O’Donnell in ‘Batman and Robin’, the 1920 Indian Scout ridden by Anthony Hopkins in ‘The World’s Fastest Indian’, and the Iowa state police hoverbike from the 2009 movie ‘Star Trek’.

Vintage motorcycles include a 1970 Harley-Davidson ‘Iron’ XR750, of which only 120 were built, the 1948 Indian Scout that won the 1948 Daytona 200 race, and a 1979 Honda CBX.

Library Director Duke Blackwood said, “Ronald Reagan’s actions helped change the course of the American motorcycle industry. By showcasing more than a century of truly extraordinary motorcycles, there really is something for everyone to see and enjoy”.
