Here’s my picks of the week to suit any budget:    

Yamaha SuperTenere

UNDER £1000 – 1996 Yamaha XJ600 Diversion, £599
A lot of cheap bike for the money which would be perfect as a winter hack.
We say: Will do a load of winters without drama. At this price worth a look.

 

Kawasaki ZX-6R

UNDER £2000 – 2000 Yamaha Fazer 600, £1200
Good condition, partial service history, twelve months’ MoT and tax, 39500 miles.
We say: Surprisingly nimble and bags of character.

 

Yamaha R1

UNDER £3000 – 19999 Honda Super Blackbird, £2595
Good condition, four months’ MoT, four months tax, plenty of extras. 
We say: Still a rocket ship by any standards.

 

Triumph Sprint ST

UNDER £4000 – 2001 Suzuki GSX-R600, £3025
Full history including old MoTs 17800 miles, dealer seller.
We say: High thrill per dollar ratio.

 

Honda Hornet 600

UNDER £5000 – 2009 BMW F800S, £4999
ABS, Heated Handlebar Grips, 1928 miles, dealer seller.
We say: Should hold its value well.

 

Harley XR1200

UNDER £6000 – 2007 Yamaha R1, £5150
Full service history, always garaged, 10,000 miles.
We say: Half the price of a new one; nearly as good.
