9/11 victim's families motorcycle tribute

Relatives of the victims of Flight 93 – the United Airliners plane hi-jacked on September 11 2001 – have embarked on a cross-country ride to honour their loved ones.

Eight bikes left New Jersey’s Newark airport to follow the route the ill-fated airliner would’ve taken.

The convoy will snake across the USA for nine days, covering more than 3,000 miles, raising money for a Flight 93 National Memorial, before arriving in San Francisco on September 11 – the eighth anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

All 40 passengers and crew members lost their lives when terrorists hi-jacked the jet, and it subsequently crashed in Pennsylvania.

The memorial ride has been arranged Ken Nacke, a 48-year-old police detective in Maryland, whose brother Louis “Joey” Nacke died.

He said: “This is our way of thanking the Heroes of United Flight 93 for saving countless American lives and preventing a greater tragedy, while at the cost of their own lives.”
