Keith Code’s new “A Twist of the Wrist Volume 2” DVD

1 of 1

Keith Code was at Donington Park this weekend to launch his new motorcycle training DVD, “A Twist of the Wrist Volume 2”.

Code, a former AMA Superbike racer at the very launch of the series in the Seventies, is probably the best-known motorcycle training instructor in the world.

He was the first person to develop riding technology for motorcycles and founded the California Superbike School in 1980 – the first step-by-step rider training curriculum.

In the past 30 years the School has run at 93 tracks worldwide, covered over 11millions miles and taught over 150,000 students.

Code said: “It’s wonderful. I’ve got the most fantastic research laboratory – and I tell the students that. It’s been a grand experiment!”

Code has written three books on the subject, as well as producing a feature-length DVD covering his first book, “A Twist of the Wrist”.

“A Twist of the Wrist Volume 2” is based on Code’s book of the same title and develops ideas explored in his first video in far more detail.

Code said: “I like to think the new DVD takes things to another level. It contains actual technology rather than discourse of what riding is about.

“I said I wanted to do a video based on the second Twist book so we sat and wrote a movie script. In retrospect, it was something we thought we should be seen, but we took the project to some movie people and, let’s say, we’ve refined it since then.”

It’s not just the content of the DVD that’s taken things to a new level, the technology used in shooting and producing the new DVD has move on dramatically.

Code said: “Comparing the (quality of) the two, I’d say it was like we were waving a shotgun around for the first video. Now we’ve got a lazer sight on!”

Code and his crew shot 65 hours of hi-def footage and condenses that down into the two hour package. “

The key content of “A Twist of the Wrist Volume 2” concentrates on:
Barriers to cornering and how to overcome them
Rider input – what’s bad and what’s good
Fundamentals of steering – how to and the impact on cornering
Visual skills – what to look at and when
Braking – there are choices on how to. See them all
Body position – What are the right and wrong ways to connect to your motorcycle
Throttle control – the simple solution to most rider errors.
The DVD goes on sale in September.
