New riders wanted for MCN feature!

1 of 1

Fancy a fun day out? We’re looking to recruit six newly-qualified or learner riders to act as guinea pigs for a new kind of bike training.

Over the past 16 years, Australian-based training and safety expert Rob Smith has developed a datalogging system which can give riders a mark out of ten for their ability to brake, corner and swerve. He’s also got some new teaching methods to go with it. With the new UK bike test subject to a Parliamentary enquiry, we’d like to take a look at Rob’s system. All we need are riders – and that’s where you come in. So here’s the deal:

You need to be:
– either a learner on L plates, or a newly qualified rider (ie you’ve passed your test within the last year)
– able to come to Mallory Park Circuit, Kirkby Mallory, Leicester at 9am this Thursday, 27 August
– happy to be have your picture in the paper. You also need to bring your own small or middleweight bike (125cc-650cc), with full riding kit.

The day will be finished by 3pm. Our ideal group will include male and female riders across a wide age range.

What’s in it for me?
OK, what do you get out of it – besides a free day’s training and your own personal bike skill rating? Well, we guarantee this will be an entertaining and useful day, and we’ll want your opinion and feedback for a big article in MCN. Rob has been a rider trainer and safety consultant for over 20 years, and has just spent six months setting up a bike test system for Dubai. So you’ll be learning from a real expert.

We’ll also be guests of the excellent Circuit Based Training, who are lending us their Mallory Park paddock facilities for the day. And I’ll be making the tea. If you can make it, please email rupert.paul@motorcyclenews.com, stating your name, age, sex, bike and riding experience. I’ll let you know whether you’re in or not by 10am Wednesday.
