More BMW quality issues

I totally agree about the issues of BMW quality. My gs1200 was 3 months old when corrosion set in around footpegs but worst was to come.

Around 4 months into ownership the fuel pump relays corroded and failed almost killing me and my pillion. BMW replaced the relays, and on checking i could see that the cover for the relays was vented on the top allowing water inside to settle.

Once again after a year the same problem- total failure whist on a roundabout. Complaints to BMW fell on deaf ears even though these are life threatning problems.

More? Yes… Today (10/10/2008) the underside of my seat burst into flames as the metal bar that adjusts seat height made contact with the battery terminals causing a small fire. The bike is not even 3 years old.

Never again will I consider a BMW product.
