New 15mph speed limits

Urban speed limits of 15mph are to be introduced in new “eco towns” across the UK to tackle global warming.

The plans, due to be unveiled by housing minister Caroline Flint later this week, are intended to discourage use of motorcycles and cars in favour of cycling and public transport.

The goal is to limit emissions and pollution in up to 15 new towns housing 100,000 people.
