“Test pattern for spy satellites” is really just motorcycle training ground
Updated: 19 November 2014
Conspiracy theorists mistook a motorcycle training ground for a secret test pattern for spy satellites.
A website on military “secrets” thought there was something fishy when it spotted a “strange new object” at RAF Feltwell in Norfolk.
The website reported: “That ‘sports pitch’ is most likely a test pattern for the calibration of military satellites utilising Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) – a special technique for remote sensing and mapping applications.”
But the Ministry of Defence said it was “to teach motorcycle safety”.
