Road building exceeds rail-line construction

More miles of road have been built than railway lines since Labour came to power in 1997, The Times reports, citing figures given in an answer to a parliamentary question by the Liberal Democrats.

The reply shows over 405 miles of motorway have been opened over the past 11 years, compared to 27 miles of railways.
