Better roads are key to increasing safety

UK motorists believe that improvements to the quality of our roads would help to reduce accidents, a survey by the AA shows.

The AA questioned 17,481 motorists and found that 72% believed improvements to roads and junctions would help to increase safety, compared to 25% who thought that more traffic police is the way forward, and 4% who wanted to see more speed cameras deployed.

Edmund Kind, president of the AA, points out that record levels of taxation don’t seem to be leading to any improvements to our roads.

“The motorist is paying record amounts in taxation, so more of this should be spent on life saving road improvements,” he said.
