Evel Knievel waxwork unveiled in Las Vegas

The Madame Tussauds waxwork of stunt legend Evel Knievel was recently unveiled to family and friends in Las Vegas.

The waxwork of Knievel shows the man in his prime, dressed in his iconic red, white and blue leathers and red and blue cape.

The waxwork was originally intended to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Evel’s infamous Caesars Palace, on New Years Eve 1967.

Evel himself worked closely with Madame Tussauds in the creation of the waxwork, and saw several images of parts of the model, but unfortunately he never saw the completed waxwork before he died.

Visitors to the museum will be able to sit on a 1972 Harley Davidson XR750, painted in the same colours as Evel’s original bike. They will also be able to wear a cape and take pictures of themselves next to the waxwork.

Adrian Jones, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas said: “Evel Knievel was an international brand and his ability to self promote and capture the hearts and minds of young and old with his death defying stunts made him one of the most recognizable icons of the 20th century.”
