Video: Sand drag racing in Australia

You’d be forgiven for thinking drag racing on tarmac was daft enough, but the Australians have gone one step further with the invention of sand drag racing.

The machinery used in the races ranges from 50cc ‘peewee’ motorcycles, all the way up to drag bikes with a tractor wheel at the rear and a 7.4 litre, 550bhp V8 engine in the middle.

There’s no controlling body, officials or rule book – the contenders just turn up to have a laugh.
