Hit and run

Being a lover of bikes and having the greatest respect for bikers and their machines, I find myself at a loss. Myself, my partner and 2 young daughters (aged 7 & 9) were in Skipton, North Yorks back in july 2007. Having enjoyed an afternoon visiting the castle in town we decided to take the girls for tea.

We found a safe place to cross the road and I had just let go of my eldest child’s hand for her to cross safely when all of a sudden a guy came flying round the corner on his machine and struck my baby. He hit her, looked at her rolling around on the floor then sped off. He never even slowed down or stopped to see if she was dead or alive.

Luckily for us she is still alive but suffered a badly broken leg and some nasty cuts and grazes. We couldn’t get any of his reg as it all happened that fast. It would seem that this guy has no conscience. Myself and partner are both HGV drivers and cannot believe what has happened. We have told my baby that not all bikers are as bad as this man.

Of course we got the police involved but they weren’t any help. We recieved a cctv tape of the town centre at the time of the incident but he wasn’t on it as he came from a different direction to where the cam was pointing. All we can do is put it down to a nasty experience and hope this idiot doesn’t kill a child next time.
