ON SEPTEMBER THE 15TH I BECAME MRS PUGH …NO ORDINARY WEDDING OF COURSE ,IT WAS A THEMED WEDDING BLACK AND WHITE ONLY!! EVEN THE CAKE WAS A CHECKERED FLAG. AND OUR TABLES WERE NAMED AFTER TOP RACERS. 16TH SEPTEMBER SET OFF FROM PETERBOROUGH TWO UP ON MY FJR,OF COURSE JASON WAS IN CHARGE OF THE RIDING!! QUICK CROSS UNDER THE TUNNEL THEN ONTO BRUGGE . TWO DAYS THERE IN THE RAIN THEN ONTO GERMANY.(DAY 3) THE BEST ROADS EVER IN GERMANY. WE NEED AUTOBAHNS!!! 155MPH FULLY LOADED, CRUISING AT 130ISH FOR MOST OF A TANK OF FUEL!WITHOUT WORRYING ABOUT FLASHING BLUE LIGHTS . ARRIVED IN THE HARZ MOUNTAINS AT 7.30 PM . STAYING AT A MOTORBIKE HOTEL IN BAD GRUND , FANTASTIC HOTEL RAN BY AN ENGLISH FAMILY ,HOME FROM HOME .THE HARMONIE HOTEL WALDESRUH. SIMON OUR HOST GREETED US WITH CUPS OF TEA AND LOTS OF CHATS ABOUT THE MOUNTAINS , WE MET UP WITH A COUPLE OF SCOTTISH LADS TOO FRANK AND TOM . (DAY 4 )AFTER BREAKFAST SIMON TOOK US OUT ON A RUN INTO THE HARZ FANTASTIC TWISTY ROADS WITH GREAT VIEWS. WE WENT TO HANN-MUNDEN, CROSSING THE RIVER WESER BY BARGE ON THE WAY . OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS DISCOVERED THE HARZ AREA WITH OUR GUIDE SIMON ,LOTS OF LAUGHS ALONG THE WAY. OUR FAVOURITE PLACE WAS TORFHAUS A MOTORBIKE MEETING POINT. (DAY 7) LEFT BAD GRUND AND HEADED FOR AUSTRIA,STRAIGHT DOWN THROUGH GERMANY MOSTLY BLASTING DOWN AUTOBAHNS!!ARRIVED AT 7.30PM WHAT A DAY!!! I NO LONGER COULD WALK AND MY BUM WAS SQUARE !! THIS WAS HOW TO TEST A MARRIAGE JASON BEGAN TO REGRET THOSE AUTO COMS AS I COULD MOAN ENDLESSLY. THE NEXT WEEK WAS SPENT EXPLORING AUSTRIA,INCLUDING SALZBERG AND SOME SERIOUSLY HAIRY MOUNTAIN ROADS WHICH SHOULD NOT BE MISSED.ESPECIALLY THE ROAD LEADING TO THE GROSSGLOCKNER GLACIER. ON THE WAY WE STOPPED AT BIKER POINT THE MOST TWISTY PIECE OF ROAD AND ON A COBBLED SURFACE ,THANK GOD IT WAS DRY!THEN THE ROAD TWISTED DOWN THE MOUNTAIN AND THROUGH THE OTHER SIDE TO A LITTLE TOWN CALLED HEILIGENBIUT .THE PASS UP THE MOUNTAIN CLOSED AT 7.30PM SO UNFORTUNATELY WE HAD TO GO ROUND THE MOUNTAIN BASE ON THE WAY BACK THIS WAS ALSO A GREAT ROAD . THE WEATHER WAS GOOD WHILE IN AUSTRIA WITH ONLY TWO DAYS OF RAIN, THE RAIN GAVE US AN OPPORTUNITY TO GO BACK AND VISIT MUNICH A FANTASTIC CITY. (DAY14) LEFT AUSTRIA AT 9AM AND HEADED FOR BERN IN SWITZERLAND. AS THE SPEED LIMITS ARE SO LOW IN AUSTRIA IT SEEMED TO TAKE FOREVER.ALTHOUGH THE TRIP WAS DRY,IT RAINED NOT LONG AFTER REACHING THE CITY.WHICH IS NO SURPRISE,AS IT RAINED IN EVERY CITY WE VISITED.(BY THE WAY ..BERN IS CLOSED ON SUNDAY) (DAY 16) THE NEXT STOP WAS THANKS TO RICHARD HAMMOND AND HIS TOP GEAR BUDDIES.MILES AND MILES AND MILES THROUGH FRANCE JUST TO CROSS A BLEEDING BRIDGE.WELL WORTH THE TRIP AS THE MILLAU BRIDGE IS VERY IMPRESSIVE.IT MUST BE AS WE ONLY SAW MORE BIKERS ON THE FERRY HOME . WE STAYED IN A REMOTE BUT TRANQUILL VILLAGE AROUND 30 MINS FROM THE BRIDGE AT Grand Hôtel De La Muse Et Du Rozier. (DAY 17) NEXT BARCELONA !! OUR HOTEL WAS ON THE DOOR STEP OF THE GAUDI CATHEDRAL IN THE CENTRE OF THE CITY, I EVEN GOT TO RELAX ON THE ROOF OF THE HOTEL NEXT TO THE POOL. (DAY 18) OFF TO ANDORRA ONLY A SHORT TRIP UP THROUGH THE PYRENEES,MY NEW HUSBAND SAVED THE BEST HOTEL TILL LAST. THE FIVE STAR CARLTON HOTEL WHERE OUR ROOM WAS LIKE A SMALL FLAT.WE DIDNT GET TO ADVANTAGE OF IT AS WE HAD TO LEAVE AT 3AM TO CATCH THE FERRY FROM BILBAO IT WAS PROBABLY A GOOD THING AS ANDORRA HAS FANTASTIC SHOPS AND WE COULDN’T FIT ANYTHING ELSE ON THE BIKE (DAY 19) THE WAY TO THE FERRY CONTAINED THE MOST COSTLY TOLL ROADS OF THE WHOLE TRIP (DAY 20) ARRIVED BACK ON ENGLISH SOIL AFTER QUITE A ROUGH EVENING ON THE FERRY. ARRIVED BACK IN PETERBOROUGH 20 DAYS AND 3,800 MILES LATER FANTASTIC TRIP I AM THE LUCKIEST WIFE IN THE WORLD.
