Don't make the same mistake

Don’t make the same mistake as me: Travelling home from our local meet at a cafe on the A2 I came up to some traffic lights with a slip road to the left and right. I was in the process of going right only to find the others I was with were carrying straight on so as I proceded to change back to the left I crossed the white line dividers.

The lights I was approaching were in the process of changing to red so obviously I started to apply the brakes. Doing this I found myself one inch deep in the anti-skid surface which had come up, thus locking the front wheel and throwing me down the road. The estimate for repairs was in the region of 1200 quid.

So on this note I proceeded in trying to make a claim from my local council. One year later, various contractors and endless phone calls got me back at my local authority who then sent me on the same route.

I had already told them I wasn’t intrested in going for damages to myself and clothing but just wanted my bike repairing. They even sent me a letter saying they had sent an incident unit out but couldn’t clean the road as a road sweeper was required because there were too many loose chippings. Cheeky sods.

The lesson here is don’t try and claim yourself; get a solicitor to do it.
