Mirror fix to save bikers

1 of 1

Riders’ lives could be saved by a simple fix that would mean they could see more at junctions – a change that potentially could save rider’s lives.

Most trucks feature a large main wing mirror on each side with a smaller, wide-angled one beneath. An MCN investigation revealed last year that the main mirrors had been made so large they could obscure tens of metres of road at T-Junctions and make it difficult for drivers to see oncoming bikes before pulling out.

Now, the UK truck drivers’ union and Britain’s biggest selling truck magazine have said that our safety could be improved if the mirrors were simply swapped around, so the small one was above instead of beneath the large one.

To find out more about this easy-step solution and what it’ll mean to the lorry-driving community see next Wednesday’s MCN.
