Police interview witnesses over deaths at 2007 Isle of Man TT

Police are interviewing witnesses over the fatal incident at this year’s Isle of Man TT.

Two spectators and a rider died at the 26th milestone during the Senior TT on Friday, June 8, 2007.
 
Race promoter, the island’s Department of Leisure and Tourism, said some of these Isle of Man constabulary interviews have been carried out under police caution.

But, the Department of Leisure and Tourism maintains: “This is standard practice following an accident of this nature at the TT races. No charges have been pressed and these interviews are to establish the facts and background concerning the incident.” 

Competitor Marc Ramsbotham, 34, from Wymondham, Norfolk and spectators, Dean Adrian Jacob, 33, from Kidderminster and Gregory John Kenzig, 52, from Queensland, Australia died following the accident and two other people were injured.

The Department of Leisure and Tourism has said it will review safety for spectators, officials and competitors – as they do at the end of every Isle of Man TT – and ensure any findings are used to make improvements to the race safety.

A further statement is expected from the Department of Leisure and Tourism in the next 24 hours.
