Bike sales hit by Britain’s bad weather

A new report released by EurotaxGlass’s claims the level of sales in the used motorcycle market this summer has declined due to the recent shocking weather.

EurotaxGlass’, the leading supplier of motoring business intelligence across 29 countries, say the poor weather conditions in the UK has pushed people to spend their money on going abroad instead of on a motorcycle this summer.

Motorcycle Editor at EurotaxGlasses, Randal Thomas said: “As many of the modern motorcycling fraternity don’t do rain, poor weather directly influences activity on the forecourt.

“The record-breaking rainfall witnessed across the country so far this summer has coincided with the peak holiday season, so it seems likely that many consumers will be spending any available cash on an escape to the sun, rather than investing in a new motorcycle.”

But despite the fall in sales on the used market, the intelligence firm suggests there is still a shortage of second-hand machinery available.

”This year has seen more retailers focussing on selling used examples, which has driven up prices and has led to traders bidding strongly to secure the machines they want,” said Thomas.
