Bike-friendly bull bars
Updated: 19 November 2014
4x4s are being fitted with bike friendly bull bars made from a shock absorbent plastic material.
From May the sale and fitment of metal bull bars will be made illegal by the Department for Transport, anybody flouting the law could face a 12-month prison sentence and a £20,000 fine.
In response Endura plastic mouldings has created an energy-absorbing plastic alternative that can be fitted to a wide range of 4x4s from Mitsubishi Shogun to Land Rovers.
MCN has been a long-standing critic of solid metal bull bars and the risks they pose to bikers in the event of a collision.
A spokesperson for Concept Mouldings said: “Our bars absorb lots of energy, and help to protect pedestrians and road users from hard parts of vehicles.”
Bull bars will become safer from May 2007
