How are your brakes?

AN online survey of motorcycle users has been launched by the Department for Transport to try and find out how we are all affected by mirrors, brakes and tyres.

The government-appointed motorcycle technical group (representing the motorcycle industry, motorcycle user organisations and DfT officials) are addressing environmental, motorcycle and rider equipment issues.

As part of this strategy DfT has undertaken to obtain information concerning:

• positioning of motorcycle mirrors and quality of the view afforded to the rear,

• brake system operation and the quality of brake pads/linings;

• supply, quality, fitment, and channels of distribution for motorcycle replacement tyres.
